Sex Workers Removed From Louisiana Sex Offender Registry

In case you hadn’t heard, the fight to remove sex workers required to register as sex offenders in Louisiana solely for a CANS conviction has been a success!!

This past Tuesday (June 11 2013), U.S District Judge Martin Feldman approved the settlement agreement between the Center for Constitutional Rights and Louisiana Attorney General James “Buddy” Caldwell’s office that will remove approximately 700 individuals from the sex offender registry who had been required to register solely because of a Crime Against Nature by Solicitation (CANS) conviction. In this update:

The Movement

The Movement is a community center that provides HIV prevention activities for young black gay/bisexual, and same gender loving men between the ages of 13 & 29.

The Movement is a project of NO/AIDS Task Force that provides:

• On and off-site rapid HIV counseling, testing and referral
• A young gay/bisexual men’s social networking program called ME+U (facebook.com/meplusu504)
• One-on-one counseling for individuals who are struggling to
adopt or maintain risk reduction behaviors
• A drop-in safe space for young gay/bisexual men,
• A Youth Advisory Board that oversees the development of The Movement
